As we close out 2025, we extend our appreciation to every member of the MC Design & Contracting team. This year demanded focus, adaptability and consistency — and you delivered with remarkable commitment. This was a milestone year for MC Design, marking 35 years of successful trading. Alongside this achievement, we expanded our team, strengthened our internal capability and refined our operating plan to support long-term sustainability. Together, these developments made 2025 a year of renewed purpose, stronger alignment and steady, measured progress.
Operating conditions across the South African automotive sector were mixed. Domestic new-vehicle sales improved through 2025, yet local manufacturing volumes contracted, and component exports declined, creating pressure across the value chain. Despite this backdrop, our strong 2024 project pipeline provided a stable foundation that supported performance throughout the year. This was reinforced by repeat business from long-standing clients and a consistent flow of new work, including opportunities beyond the automotive sector. Several flagship projects reached completion, new contracts were secured, and our execution remained consistently strong — demonstrating the capability, resilience and depth of our technical teams.
One of the most notable strengths of 2025 was our people. The average tenure across our workforce is nine years, while our management team holds an exceptional 21-year average. This continuity — rare in today’s engineering and manufacturing environment — preserves institutional knowledge, strengthens client trust and underpins operational excellence. We also welcomed new talent into the business, bringing fresh perspectives and specialist expertise that further elevate our capability. With a strong core team supported by scalable resource capacity when required, we remain well-equipped to deliver complex, large-scale projects with confidence.
In addition to celebrating 35 years of trading, 2025 also marked two important branch milestones: our Durban branch reached its 10th anniversary, and our Pretoria branch celebrated its 8th anniversary. These milestones reflect our long-standing regional presence and the role each branch plays in supporting our growth across changing market cycles.
Internally, 2025 was a year of meaningful investment and renewal. After carefully evaluating the feasibility of relocating our Head Office, we decided to remain in our current premises and reinvest in upgrading our facilities. Renovations are already underway, beginning with the complete redevelopment of our engineering office to support modern workflows, stronger collaboration and more efficient project coordination. Upgrades to the workshop and other departments will continue into 2026 as part of a phased long-term facilities strategy.
This year also saw the implementation of our new ERP system — a significant step in strengthening our process foundation, integrating operations and preparing the business for scalable growth. The new platform enhances visibility, improves reporting and increases alignment across departments, positioning MC Design strongly for the next five to ten years.
Looking to 2026, diversification remains a strategic priority. While automotive remains a foundational sector for MC Design, we have taken deliberate steps to broaden our presence across industries with stronger medium-term growth prospects. The results of this work are already visible, with new opportunities emerging both locally and internationally. Our renewed engagement in industry bodies and associations is further strengthening visibility, networks and access to future collaboration.
To our staff, clients and suppliers — thank you for your support and partnership throughout the year. To our team in particular: your resilience, professionalism and dedication remain at the heart of every achievement we deliver.
As we head into December, we have several major projects scheduled for completion during the shutdown period. While many colleagues will take a well-deserved break, a significant portion of our operational teams will remain actively deployed on shutdown work. We extend our sincere appreciation to those who will be working through the Festive Season to deliver these critical projects — your commitment is valued, recognised and deeply appreciated.
We enter 2026 with momentum, clarity, and confidence — ready to embrace new opportunities, navigate new challenges and continue building on the foundation strengthened in 2025.
